קיבלה עונש | אילהאן עומאר, חברת הקונגרס של ארצות הברית, מטעם המפלגה הדמוקרטית, הודחה היום (חמישי) על ידי הרפובליקנים מוועדת החוץ של בית הנבחרים בשל הערות אנטי-ישראליות.
יו"ר בית הנבחרים קווין מקארתי הצליח לחזק את התמיכה הרפובליקנית נגדה, למרות שכמה מחוקקים רפובליקנים הביעו הסתייגות.
אילהאן עומאר, מוסלמית ממוצא סומלי, תקפה בשנים האחרונות ללא הפסקה את מדינת ישראל ואף הואשמה לא פעם באנטישמיות. כזכור, בשנת 2019, אסרו ראש הממשלה בנימין נתניהו ושר הפנים דאז אריה דרעי על כניסתה לישראל עקב תמיכתה בתנועת החרם BDS.
