מהומות פרצו הלילה (חמישי) בצרפת על ידי מהגרים מרוקאים לאחר שנבחרת מרוקו סיימה את דרכה במונדיאל כשהפסידה 2:0 לצרפת בחצי הגמר. אוהדים מרוקאים השליכו זיקוקים, חפצים על שוטרים ואף הציתו מספר פחי אשפה.
במהלך המהומות נדרס למוות נער מרוקאי בן 14 לאחר שהנהג ביצע פניית פרסה מהירה בעקבות ניסיונות של קבוצת אוהדים מרוקאים לקרוע את דגל צרפת ממכוניתו.
גם בעיר בריסל שבבלגיה התפתחו מהומות בין אוהדי מרוקו למשטרה שהגיבה בתותחי מים וגז מדמיע.
